The What

Just like Google and Facebook, Nextdoor has a feature that allows hospitals to promote discounts or specials on services to both existing and potential clients in specific neighborhoods. Keeping the audience of these ads within driving distance creates a level of intimacy with the community that other social media platforms don’t have. It also shows your neighbors that you really do care about them and their pets—enough to give them certain deals or incentives to visit your practice.

The Why

People who use Nextdoor tend to be very invested in supporting their community. The best part of Local Deals is that they’re shown to these users in so many places on the site: residents’ feeds, business pages, in the Business section, on a neighborhood-specific Local Deals area, and as a sponsored listing in search results.

On the downside, more businesses are now using this feature and there’s more competition in other verticals taking up ad space. That has resulted in a decline in effectiveness for ND Local Deals when compared with other social media advertising.
